Born in August of 1983, I’ve learned a lot about life and I’m sure there is so much more for me to learn. Though I’ve never really been very ‘good’ at biographies or profiles, I’m going to do this in a format that works best, a little bit of writing.
I’ve lived in a few different places over the years, though I would have to say the most of my time has been split between the City of Ottawa and the Town of Kemptville. Both are complete opposites in that one is city life and the other is country life. Though Kemptville isn’t really country, at least it’s not so far out in the middle of nowhere that you need to make a trip just to get to your nearest neighbour. (We had internet and cable… we weren’t hicks.) I’d have to say though out of all the places I’ve lived I happened to have loved living in Surrey, BC the most. I think it had a lot to do with the weather. It never became really really cold and I remember doing a lot of bike riding out there.
Despite my love for smaller towns, I happen to like living in the city for the convience factor and have enjoyed a few of the perks of only being a few moments from downtown though not nearly enough of them.
I’m an avid writer, I love creating stories and my favorite method of creating the stories is what one of my ex-boyfriends use to call “Group Creative Writing” – Role Playing. I would spend countless hours doing it if I could but alas work does get in the way. Recently I’ve begun looking to create a group, a small group of people that enjoy the same experience and have it sort of run like a game night on a certain night of the week at a specific time. I find the activity sometimes can help inspire me in my novel works and I love having the time to bounce ideas off of others.
Though I’ve found myself getting ‘old’ shall we say and stuck in my ways, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and am considering opening up to others around me… well this is turning into a blog post.
My other hobbies often include drawing, and graphics though the time spent on them is often minimal because of my love for writing.
West Wing is probably my favorite TV Series out there. I’m aware the series ended but I own the complete set and watch it as often as I can. Next to that I do tend to enjoy the CSI shows, Grey’s Anatomy, Friends, Law and Order: CI and most sitcoms out there. I’m not much for any of that slapstick stuff so I tend to avoid Family Guy or shows like that… I know shoot me! I can’t help it if my humor leans more towards the Witty or Dry and Sarcastic type. Probably why I enjoy West Wing so much is because of the Wit and sarcastic humor that you find in it.
Movie wise, I’m a girl, I like a good chick flick but I do tend to lean more towards action and comic movies. My favorites however include: Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, National Treasure 1 +2, Boondock Saints and All the Harry Potter movies (AH! The kid in me is seen!) If I have to pick a specific Harry Potter it becomes a toss up between the first one and the fifth one. Though as the sixth will come out (Spring 2009) I’m sure it’s going to beat my favorite out of the water.
Book wise, again it’s the Harry Potters. Most books lately I find aren’t very fulfilling. I loved Nancy Drew and the Tom Clancy Net Force series and much of my writing was inspired by things I’ve read and wanted to create for a long time, but I find a lot of authors tend to stay to the extreme of their genre and I kind of like a little bit of everything all mixed in. I think that’s the Canadian in me.
As for everything else, well I’m currently in a relationship with one of the most wonderful guys. His name is Ben and I love him dearly, and no he’s not reading this over my shoulder.
So that’s me… well the sane parts of me. As I write to this, you’ll learn more about who I am and the way I think. I’m an Aspiring Author and I do hope one day that I have the ability to aspire others to pursue the dream of writing. There is nothing absolutely nothing out there that can replace a good story. We tell stories everyday, big or small, they are what make us who we are and what can help us become what we want to be. They inspire and they take us to worlds beyond our imagination when the world we live in can sometimes get a little hectic. A story, especially a good story, can make anything seem a little bit brighter.
Lots of Love,
Sheyna
